What using it actually looks like
One reading, saved to every plant it covers
You take one temperature walking into the tent, not four. Tick the plants it covers; each keeps its own copy, so correcting one later leaves the others alone.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.
Your grow is nobody else's business
- ✓Your journal stays yours. No plant, reading, note or photo is ever sent for measurement. On iPhone the app reports a short list of counts so we can tell which adverts led to an install, named in full here. Android reports nothing.
- ✓Photos never leave the device. Stored locally and not uploaded, even when sync is on.
- ✓No account required. Every feature works signed out and offline. Signing in adds a backup and a second device, nothing more.
- ✓No ads, and nothing follows you. No advertising, no advertising identifier, and nothing here can recognise you in another company's app.
- ✓You can delete everything. Deleting your account from Settings removes it and the data synced to it, permanently.
One grower, in Minnesota
I build ChloroFile on my own, in Minnesota, under the name 218 Cultivation. There is no company behind it and no investor waiting for the data to become worth something.
You can see where that lands: it works offline, it never asks you to make an account, and your photos stay on your phone. Nothing here is waiting to be switched on once there are enough users.

Do I need an account?
No. Every feature works offline without one. Signing in adds a backup and keeps a second device in step; signing out leaves your grows where they are.
Why does the app say 12,578 varieties and the search say 8,140?
They count different things. The app carries all 12,578, because a thin record still answers "what did I plant". The website gives a variety its own page when the record clears a bar: a flowering window plus a second fact, or measured potency alongside reported effects, or named parents or grow traits. That is 8,140 of them. The rest are listed on their breeder's page, where the same information sits in context.
What does Pro cost, and what does it include?
$3.99 a month or $24.99 a year. It lifts the four-plant and one-environment limits and charts all seven metrics rather than temperature alone. Logs, photos, reminders, finished grows, CSV export and the whole catalogue are free.
Where does the variety data come from?
Breeder catalogues and open datasets, compiled and bundled into the app. Each entry shows its source and how current it is. Reference data, not a measurement of your plant.
Is my data encrypted?
Synced data travels over HTTPS and is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. Data on your device is protected by iOS device encryption. Photos are not synced at all.
Is there an Android version?
Not in the store yet, but it is built and in testing: a native Android app with the same catalogue and the same offline behaviour.
What can I use it for?
Any plant you grow and want a record of. It is a record-keeping tool, so following whatever laws apply where you live is on you. The app sells and supplies nothing.
